Vines centenaries
On the 85, 51 hectares of planted vines, the tradition joined the requirements of today.
The terraces of Senhora do Convento, supported by old schist walls, gather a large variety of type of vines which are still worked with the hand.
A vineyard, allowing more current techniques, was replanted in traditional varieties recommended by the Port and Douro Wines Institute : Touriga Nacional, Francesa, Tinta Roriz and Barroca for the red wines, Malvasia Fina, Gouveio and Viosinho for the white wines.
An ideal exposure
On a ground mainly schistous , the vines extend from the edge of Távora at the top of the hills which do not exceed 300 meters of altitude.
The exposure of the vineyards , the choice of varieties, the exceptional quality of the grapes but also the work of the vine and the choice of the date of the grape harvest (who can extend over several weeks according to maturity from the grape ), are as many criteria of excellence allowing to obtain the wines classified among best believed.
Beautiful landscapes
Numerous walkways have been made to allow visitors through the domaine. Between the fines riddles of the vineyards and the woods of chestnut trees, wild cherry trees, oak trees and pine trees, we found almond trees, cherry trees, peach trees, orange tress and fig trees that blossom equally according to the right season.
Beautiful sights await you everywhere from the top of the hills to the shore of the Távora river which is crossed by a small roman bridge that remains in perfect shape. Then, beautiful sights await you there with well ordered vineyards surrounded by areas of wild lands.
